Summary: Accompanist does not require an app account. Imported audio is stored and processed locally; iCloud backup, syncing, sharing and exports can move content as described below. In Accompanist 1.12.2, application-issued advertising initialization is temporarily disabled for every user and distribution channel while a valid consent path is verified. The library and Settings show no banner or empty ad slot. Advertising frameworks remain included; this hold does not establish that they perform no startup activity or collect or send no data. Older App Store builds may still request Free-tier banners. Existing SDK disclosures remain in section 7.
Accompanist is published by MW Supply Limited (“we”, “us”). We do not operate any servers of our own and we do not run any account system. There is no login.
Accompanist does not require registration and does not send your music library to a developer-operated server. Transfers you choose use Apple services or the destinations you select. Apple may provide aggregate app usage, sales and diagnostic reports through its platform services and settings. The bundled advertising software has separate data handling described in section 7.
Data can leave your device through iCloud backup, sync and sharing, through exports you initiate, and through the platform and advertising services described below. The 1.12.2 advertising hold blocks application-issued initialization; it does not remove the linked SDKs or establish an absence of all third-party processing. See section 7 for the retained advertising disclosures.
When you add music, the app uses Apple’s standard Files picker or accepts files shared to it from another app (for example Google Drive). The files you choose are copied into the app’s private storage on your device and read locally for playback. They are never sent to us.
All audio processing — decoding, time-stretching, pitch-shifting, the speed knob, volume, and fades — happens locally on your device using Apple’s audio frameworks. No part of your audio is sent off the device for processing.
Existing saved dancer profiles can back up and restore automatically through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage when iCloud is available. This profile backup remains available without Pro and does not upload your audio files. It is separate from the folder and music sync setting.
Accompanist Pro adds folder and music sync across your devices and folder sharing through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit). Folder and music sync is off until you turn it on. Songs are included only for folders where you choose “Sync music”.
The Apple Watch companion communicates only with your own iPhone over Apple’s on-device Watch Connectivity link, to relay playback controls and what’s currently playing. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party.
Accompanist 1.12.2 temporarily disables application-issued advertising initialization for Free and Pro users in every distribution channel, including App Store, TestFlight and development builds. Developer ad-test opt-ins cannot bypass the hold. The library and Settings display no banner, grey placeholder or reserved ad space. This remains a temporary hold until a valid consent path is implemented and verified. Older eligible Free App Store builds may still initialize advertising and request banners; their behavior is not changed remotely by this update. Pro’s non-ad features and purchased access are unchanged.
The application still includes Unity LevelPlay (ironSource), Unity Ad Quality and the existing ironSource, Unity Ads, AppLovin and Vungle (Liftoff Monetize) advertising software. Disabling the application’s initialization calls does not establish that every linked framework performs no startup activity or collects or sends no data. Existing SDK disclosures cover technical device and app information, identifiers, usage and advertising events, diagnostics and performance information. The App Store privacy labels include Identifiers, Usage Data and Diagnostics under Data Not Linked to You. These conservative disclosures are retained; the initialization hold does not justify a “Data Not Collected” claim.
The 1.12.2 hold runs before application-issued SDK privacy settings, requests or initialization. This update does not add an App Tracking Transparency request. The absence of tracking permission or an all-zero advertising identifier does not by itself establish that every form of SDK processing or tracking is absent. Retained privacy flags, including a GDPR consent=false value, are not treated as permission to initialize advertising software or as a substitute for a valid consent path.
The app retains Apple’s SKAdNetwork configuration for supported advertising attribution. That configuration does not mean advertising is currently initialized, and it does not establish that every other linked SDK activity is absent.

The existing advertising frameworks, including Unity Ad Quality, remain included. No advertising SDK or partner is added or upgraded for this hold. Apple provides the other platform services described here, including iCloud and StoreKit. Apple’s first-party diagnostic and crash reporting depends on the platform services and your settings, including iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
The app does not request access to your microphone, contacts, photos, or location. The Files picker shown when you import music is run by iOS itself and only returns the items you choose.
Accompanist Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store. Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple may share aggregate, non-identifying sales information with us.
Accompanist is a general-audience app. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The temporary advertising hold described in section 7 applies to every user in 1.12.2.
If we change how Accompanist handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store privacy labels for the affected version.
