About

Money Flow is a fast, private personal-finance tracker for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Log expenses, income, and transfers in seconds, organize them with customizable categories and accounts, set budgets and savings goals, and understand your habits through dashboards and insights built with Swift Charts.

There is no bank linking. Money Flow never asks for a bank login and uses no aggregator such as Plaid — you enter transactions yourself or import a CSV your bank already gives you. There are no accounts to create, and your financial data stays on your device and your own private iCloud — we never see it.

iPhone, iPad and Mac

Money Flow is one app across all three, and it is not the same deal on each — here is exactly what you get before you download:

iPhone & iPad

  • Free, with no transaction limit.
  • Every core feature: transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, goals, recurring bills, receipts, widgets, CSV import/export.
  • The free tier is supported by ads (a banner and occasional full-screen ad). Money Flow Pro removes them.

Mac

  • Completely ad-free at every tier — the Mac app contains no advertising SDK at all.
  • The free download is the full, navigable app limited to 10 transactions. Everything is there to explore; you just can’t keep adding past ten.
  • Money Flow Pro lifts the limit for unlimited transactions.

Money Flow Pro

  • The same premium features on every device.
  • $4.99/month or $29.99/year, with a 14-day free trial on either plan.
  • One subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac (Universal Purchase).
  • Removes ads, unlocks advanced insights, multi-currency, net worth, forecasting, tags, custom themes and alternate app icons.

Prices are US App Store prices and may differ in your region; your local price and trial terms are always shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.

Getting started

iCloud sync

When you are signed in to iCloud and the toggle in Settings → iCloud is on, your transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, savings goals, recurring items, and settings sync automatically across your iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own private iCloud account — along with your merchants, tags, quick-add templates, saved filters and net-worth history. Because the data lives in your iCloud, it also comes back if you reinstall the app on a new or reset device. If you prefer to keep everything on a single device, just leave iCloud sync off — the app works fully offline.

Importing & exporting

You can bring existing records in from a .csv file and export your data as CSV or Excel at any time from Settings. Exports go wherever you choose through the standard system share sheet — Files, Mail, AirDrop, and so on — and the Mac app saves them straight to a folder you pick.

FAQ

Is Money Flow free? What is the limit on the Mac?

On iPhone and iPad the app is free with no transaction limit — every core feature is included, and the free tier is supported by ads. On the Mac the app is completely ad-free, and the free download is instead a full preview limited to 10 transactions: you can navigate and try everything, but the eleventh transaction asks you to subscribe. Money Flow Pro lifts that limit and removes the ads on iPhone and iPad. Recurring bills the app posts for you and anything in the Bin do not count toward the ten.

Does Money Flow connect to my bank?

No — deliberately. Money Flow has no bank linking and uses no aggregator such as Plaid. It never asks for a bank login, so there is no credential to leak. You add transactions yourself, scan a receipt, or import a CSV your bank already gives you.

How much is Money Flow Pro, and is there a trial?

$4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, each with a 14-day free trial. It is a Universal Purchase, so one subscription covers your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Prices are US App Store prices and vary by region — your local price and trial terms are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm. You can cancel any time in the App Store under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Does the app show ads?

The free tier on iPhone and iPad shows a banner and occasional full-screen ads. The Mac app shows no ads at all, at any tier — it contains no advertising SDK. Money Flow Pro removes ads everywhere. Personalised ads are off by default and are opt-in only, under Settings → Ad Privacy. See the Privacy Policy for the detail, including which ad network each version uses.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, in Apple’s standard on-device database. If you enable iCloud sync, a copy is mirrored to your personal iCloud account so it stays in sync across your devices. We never receive or store your financial data.

Will my data survive if I delete and reinstall the app?

If iCloud sync was enabled, yes — your data is restored from your iCloud account when you reinstall and sign in to the same Apple Account. If iCloud sync was off, the data is stored only on the device and is removed when you delete the app, so export a backup first if you plan to delete it.

Does it sync between my iPhone, iPad and Mac?

Yes. With iCloud sync enabled on each device and the same Apple Account signed in, changes flow between them automatically.

Do I need an account or internet connection?

No. Money Flow has no sign-in and works completely offline. iCloud sync is the only feature that uses the network, and it is optional.

What file formats can I import and export?

Import accepts CSV files. Export produces CSV and Excel (.xlsx) files.

How do recurring transactions work?

In Settings → Planning → Subscriptions & Bills, add an item with an amount, category, account, and how often it repeats (daily, weekly, every 2 weeks, twice a month on the 1st & 15th, monthly, or yearly). Money Flow posts each one automatically when it’s due — including any that came due while the app was closed — and you can pause, edit, or delete a rule at any time.

How do transfers and account balances work?

Choose Transfer when adding a transaction to move money from one account to another. Transfers don’t count as income or expense; they simply adjust each account’s balance. Current balances appear on the Dashboard and in Settings → Manage Accounts, calculated from each account’s starting balance plus its activity.

How do I lock the app?

Turn on Settings → Security to require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode each time you open Money Flow. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS; the app never sees your passcode or biometric data.

Where are receipt photos stored?

Receipt photos you attach are stored on your device alongside the transaction, and — if iCloud sync is on — in your own private iCloud. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
