Summary: NutriSnap has no accounts and no servers of ours. Your food log, health data, and meal photos stay on your device and in your own private iCloud — nothing is sent to us. The free tier shows ads from Google AdMob, which may collect device data as described below (you control tracking via iOS's App Tracking Transparency prompt). NutriSnap Pro removes all ads. Your Health data is never used for advertising.
NutriSnap is developed by MW Supply Limited ("we"). We do not operate our own servers and we do not run an account system. We cannot identify you personally and we never receive your data.
When you scan a meal, the photo is analysed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework to suggest matching foods. The photo is used only for that recognition and is not uploaded, transmitted, or stored by the app, and is never sent to us or any third party. If you choose a photo from your library, it is read only for the same on-device analysis.
If you connect Apple Health, NutriSnap reads the data you authorise — active and resting energy, steps, exercise time, workouts and activity rings, sleep and overnight vitals (heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen, breathing disturbances), blood glucose (including readings written by a continuous glucose monitor), blood pressure and resting heart rate, and optionally your body weight, height, age and biological sex — to show the calories you burn, your activity and training pattern, how your eating relates to your sleep, and to personalise your targets. With your permission it also writes the nutrition of foods you log (calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber, sugar, sodium) and your weight back to Apple Health.
Sleep, activity, glucose and vitals figures are computed live on your device each time you open those screens; they are not stored by the app, not synced to iCloud, and never leave your device. No advertising appears on screens that display Apple Health data.
All of this happens between the app and Apple Health on your device. We never receive your health data. In line with Apple's requirements, NutriSnap does not use Health data for advertising, marketing, or data-mining, and does not share it with any third party. You can review or revoke each permission in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → NutriSnap, and toggle the app's use of Health in the Profile tab.
When you scan a product barcode, NutriSnap sends only the barcode number to the Open Food Facts database (world.openfoodfacts.org) to fetch that product's name and nutrition facts. No account, identifier, health data, or location is sent with the request, and we do not operate any server of our own — the request goes directly from your device. Results are cached on your device so repeat scans work offline. Product data is © Open Food Facts contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). If you download the optional offline barcode pack, scans are matched against that on-device copy of the USDA Branded Foods catalog first, with no network request at all.
NutriSnap can keep its food database current without an app update. With your permission (on by default over Wi-Fi, and via a manual “Check for updates” button in Profile → Food Database), the app fetches a small manifest and, when newer data is available, downloads an updated food database file from NutriSnap's static hosting. These requests send only standard web-request information (such as your IP address, handled by the host) and contain no personal data, no health data, and nothing about what you have logged. The downloaded data is verified and stored on your device; you can turn automatic updates off at any time. The optional offline barcode pack is downloaded the same way, only when you choose to.
The foods you log, your weight history, your goal, and your preferences are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, this data is also synced through your own private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit) so it appears on your other devices and is restored if you reinstall. That data lives in your Apple Account; we have no access to it and never receive a copy.
Some NutriSnap features work from information you enter by hand rather than from Apple Health: supplements you take (and the vitamin and mineral amounts printed on their label), lab and biomarker readings you choose to record (LDL, HDL, triglycerides, HbA1c, fasting glucose, blood pressure and resting heart rate), and an optional dietary pattern such as a lower-sodium or blood-sugar-aware preference. Choosing a dietary pattern is a preference, not a diagnosis, and NutriSnap never records or infers that you have any medical condition.
This information is stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced through your own private iCloud alongside your food log. It is never sent to us, never shared with any third party, and never used for advertising. You can edit or delete any of it in the app at any time.
If you install the Apple Watch app, it shows a snapshot of today's figures — calories, macros, water and your logging streak. That snapshot is held in memory and replaced by the next one; the Watch app stores nothing itself. The watch never writes to your diary directly: when you log from your wrist it sends a request to your iPhone and the iPhone performs the write. Nothing travels anywhere other than between your own two devices.
NutriSnap shows no banner ads. The only advertising in the app is an optional video you can choose to watch, from the scan-limit screen, to earn three extra photo scans that day; it is served by Google AdMob and never plays unless you tap to start it. To serve and measure ads, Google's SDK may collect device information such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking), IP address, coarse location derived from IP, device model and OS version, and ad-interaction data (impressions, taps). This is the only data collection in the app, and it is performed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses data from AdMob.
You are in control: iOS will ask for permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt before any cross-app tracking identifier is used. If you decline, the optional video is still available — just non-personalized. Where required, a consent form (Google UMP) is shown first and you can change your choice at any time. NutriSnap Pro removes advertising entirely, and no ad SDK activity runs for Pro subscribers.
Your Apple Health data, meal photos, food log, and weight history are never shared with Google or any ad network, and are never used for advertising.
NutriSnap Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly, each with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers) purchased through Apple. Payment is processed entirely by Apple using your Apple Account; we never see or store your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed or cancelled in your App Store account settings or from the app's Membership page. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, health data, or usage analytics on any server of ours. Outside of the advertising described in section 5, the app contains no third-party SDKs that collect data, and we operate no servers that receive your information.
NutriSnap is intended for a general audience and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It is a wellness tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Because we do not collect personal data on any server we control, we have nothing to retain or delete on our side. All app data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, protected by your device passcode and Apple Account security, and can be removed at any time by deleting the app and removing NutriSnap's data in the Health and iCloud settings.
NutriSnap provides general nutrition and fitness estimates for wellness purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
If we change how NutriSnap handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and reflect material changes in the App Store privacy details for the affected version.
