Your Mac, in your pocket.
Private remote control.

Overhand is two apps — install both

Like every remote-desktop tool, software runs on both ends. To control a Mac, you must install the free Overhand Host on that Mac first — the iPhone/iPad app connects to it. There's nothing to connect to without it.

You control from this

Overhand

On your iPhone or iPad (or another Mac). The remote control you tap to see and drive your Mac.

Overhand Host

The free app you install on the Mac you want to reach. A notarized direct download — Apple's App Store can't allow whole-Mac control, so it isn't in the store.

Controlling one Mac from another Mac? Install Overhand Host on both Macs — one shares its screen, the other does the controlling. (You don't need the iPhone app for Mac-to-Mac.)

Why Overhand

Built for people, not licensing departments

Everything you need to reach your Mac from anywhere — done the Apple-native way.

🔒

End-to-end encrypted

Screen, audio, and control are encrypted between your own devices. The relay only ever sees packets it can't read — and a viewer must enter the password shown on your Mac.

🔊

Hear your Mac

Play audio on the Mac and it streams to your iPhone at the phone's own volume — independent of the Mac's speaker level.

Low-latency video

Hardware HEVC capture and decode for a smooth, responsive picture — over your local network or the internet.

🌍

Works anywhere

Connects over cellular or any Wi‑Fi, finding the most direct path and falling back to a secure relay when networks are strict.

🖱️

Full control

Mouse, keyboard, scroll, and text — multi-display aware. Or just view, if that's all you need.

🍎

No nonsense

No false commercial-use flags, no time limits, no data harvesting. Free to use, with an optional ad-free Pro.

Connected in three steps

1

Install Overhand Host on the Mac you want to control

Download it, open it, and grant Screen Recording + Accessibility when asked (a one-time macOS step). Then sign in to your account. This is the step people miss — without Overhand Host on the Mac, there's nothing to connect to.

Questions

FAQ

What do I install, and where?

Two apps. On the Mac you want to control, install Overhand Host — the free download on this page. On the iPhone or iPad you'll use as the remote, install Overhand from the App Store. Sign both in to the same account and your Mac appears automatically. To control one Mac from another Mac, install Overhand Host on both — you don't need the iPhone app for that.

Why is there a separate Mac app (Overhand Host)?

To control a whole Mac, the host needs Screen Recording, Accessibility, and a background helper — capabilities Apple's App Sandbox forbids, and every App Store app must be sandboxed. So Overhand Host ships as a notarized direct download (just like TeamViewer, AnyDesk, and Chrome Remote Desktop). The iPhone app is the remote control, which is the right place for it.

Is it secure?

Yes. The screen, audio, and control data are end-to-end encrypted between your own devices. Pairing is protected by a password shown on your Mac — knowing the Host ID alone is not enough to connect.

Can I control my iPhone from my Mac?

Overhand controls Macs. Because of Apple platform restrictions, an iPhone or iPad can connect out to a computer but cannot itself be remotely controlled.

Does it work over cellular?

Yes — it's designed for exactly that. It connects over cellular or any Wi‑Fi, finding the most direct path and falling back to a secure relay when networks are strict.

Will I be flagged for "commercial use"?

No. Overhand does not police how you use it and will never lock you out with a false commercial-use flag.
