The short version. Keylark has no accounts and no servers of ours. What you type, decode and practise stays on your device (and, if you turn on iCloud sync with Pro, in your own private iCloud). The microphone and camera are analysed live and never recorded. The free version shows one small non-personalised banner ad; Keylark does not use your device's advertising identifier and does not track you across other apps, so iOS never shows a tracking-permission prompt.
Keylark is developed by MW Supply Limited ("we", "us"). For questions about this policy, contact mwsupplylimited@gmail.com.
When you start a sound decode, Keylark listens through the microphone and analyses the audio in real time, on your device, to detect the Morse tone and turn it into text. The audio is processed in memory and discarded immediately; it is never recorded, never written to disk, and never transmitted anywhere. Only the decoded text is kept, and only in your own history on your device. The microphone is used solely while a decode session is running, and iOS shows its own indicator whenever it is active.
When you start a light decode, Keylark uses the rear camera to measure the brightness of a small region of the frame and turn its flashing into text. The video is analysed in real time, on your device. No photo or video is recorded, saved or transmitted. No frame ever leaves your device, and Keylark has no photo-library access at all. The camera is used solely while a decode session is running, and iOS shows its own indicator whenever it is active.
Messages you translate, transcripts you decode, phrases you save, and your Koch course progress are stored on your device. With Keylark Pro you can turn on iCloud sync, which additionally stores them in your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit — encrypted in transit and at rest, and end-to-end encrypted if you enable Apple's Advanced Data Protection (optional, off by default). That data lives in your Apple Account; we cannot access it and we never receive a copy. We operate no servers that store your content.
The free version of Keylark shows one small banner, and an optional rewarded video you can choose to watch to unlock light decoding for 15 minutes. Ads are served by Unity LevelPlay (the ironSource SDK). LevelPlay is a mediation service — it invites several advertising networks to compete for each slot and shows the winner. The networks currently enabled are Unity Ads and ironSource, together with ironSource's ad-quality service, which detects invalid and fraudulent ad traffic.
To deliver, cap and measure ads, these providers may process limited device and usage information — general app activity, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions, and device and performance diagnostics. This is governed by Unity's Player and App User Privacy Policy.
Keylark requests non-personalised (contextual) ads only. The app does not read or use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites, so iOS does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt — there is nothing to ask permission for. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app signals that no consent to personalised advertising has been given, and opts out of the sale or sharing of personal information everywhere.
Nothing you type, decode, save or practise is ever sent to an ad provider. Ads never appear on the paywall, the membership page, the SOS beacon, or on the decode screen while a decode is running. Subscribing to Keylark Pro removes all ads.
Keylark Pro is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your name, payment card, or billing details — Apple handles payment. We receive only the anonymous receipt information needed to confirm whether a purchase is active.
We do not run an account system and do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, photos, or health data. We do not collect analytics about how you use the app. We do not use your device's advertising identifier and we do not build advertising or marketing profiles. Apart from the limited ad-delivery and ad-quality information described in Section 5, which our advertising provider collects under its own privacy policy, nothing about you is collected.
Because your content is stored on your device and in your own private iCloud rather than on our servers, we do not hold a copy that we could disclose, and we cannot read your data.
Keylark is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Keylark is declared as "not directed to children" to our advertising provider, and no child-directed advertising treatment is requested.
Because we do not collect your content on any server we control, we have nothing to retain or delete on our side. On-device data is protected by your device passcode; iCloud sync is encrypted in transit and at rest, and end-to-end encrypted when you enable Apple's Advanced Data Protection.
If we change how Keylark handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and reflect material changes in the App Store privacy details for the affected version.
