About

Onyx is a private in-app web browser for iPhone and iPad. Browse with multiple tabs, block ads and trackers, and keep your bookmarks and history on your device. When you want to keep a file for offline use, you download it yourself — long-press a link and choose Download Linked File, just like Safari — and it lands in your Files library. There, media plays in a built-in player, and you can open, organise, and export your files to Apple Photos or the Files app. A Face ID-protected private vault keeps the files you choose locked away.

Onyx is a general-purpose private browser and is not affiliated with any website or content provider. Please only download files that you own or have the right to use, and respect the terms of service of the sites you visit. Onyx does not remove or bypass copy protection; DRM-protected and streaming content cannot be downloaded.

Getting started

Open the Browse tab and search or enter an address. Open pages in multiple tabs and star the ones you want to keep.
To keep a file offline, long-press a link and choose Download Linked File — or open a direct file the browser can't display and confirm the download.
Your downloads and imports land in the Files tab, where you can play media offline, organise files into folders, search, and export to Photos or Files.
Turn on the ad & tracker blocker in Settings for a cleaner, faster, more private web.

Subscriptions are sold through Apple and renew automatically until cancelled; manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Prices are always shown in the app in your local currency.

FAQ

What can I download with Onyx?

You can download ordinary files that you have the right to use — the same files your browser could open directly. Onyx does not break or bypass copy protection, so DRM-protected content and paid or subscription streaming services cannot be downloaded. Streaming playlists are not supported.

Where do my files go?

They're in the Files tab, stored privately inside the app. From there you can play media offline, open other file types, or export a copy to Apple Photos or the Files app to keep it in your main library.

Is my browsing private?

Yes. Pages you visit, cookies, and anything you type — including website logins — are handled by Apple's WebKit and stay on your device. They are never sent to us, and you can clear the browser's data any time in Settings.

Do I need an account?

No. Onyx has no account and no sign-up. If a website you visit requires a login, you log in to that site in the in-app browser — those credentials stay on your device and are never sent to us.
