SentryBlack Privacy Policy

Effective 13 July 2026 · Last updated 3 August 2026

Summary: SentryBlack keeps your video on your devices and your own iCloud — never on a server we operate. Live video goes device-to-device and is end-to-end encrypted; if your network blocks a direct connection, you can optionally add a relay server of your own choosing, which forwards the encrypted video without being able to decrypt it. There are no accounts and no analytics. The free tier is supported by advertising (Google AdMob on iPhone/iPad), which may use a device identifier only with the consent iOS and the app ask you for — and you can always say no.

1. Information we collect

SentryBlack itself does not ask for, collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information. There is no account system, no login, and no first-party analytics. The only data processing beyond your own devices and your own iCloud is done by the advertising provider on the free tier (section 6).

2. Camera and microphone

When a device is used as a camera, SentryBlack uses its camera and microphone to watch the area, detect motion, record event clips, and stream a live view. All of this is processed on your device. No image, video, or audio is ever sent to MW Supply Limited or any advertising or analytics company.

3. Your recordings and where they live

Event clips and snapshots are stored in the app's private, backup-excluded storage on the recording device. If you turn on cloud backup (a Pro feature), clips and snapshots are stored in your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) so your other devices can see them — this data lives in your iCloud account under your Apple ID, governed by Apple's privacy policy. MW Supply Limited cannot access it. Deleting an event in the app removes its files; deleting the app removes all local recordings.

4. Cross-device sync and alerts

Motion alerts, the list of your cameras, and (for Pro) event clips sync between your Apple devices through your private iCloud (CloudKit) using push notifications. This uses your own iCloud storage under your Apple ID; it does not pass through any server operated by MW Supply Limited.

5. Live video streaming

Live view is sent directly between your own devices using WebRTC and is end-to-end encrypted (DTLS-SRTP). We operate no video servers, and your live video never passes through MW Supply Limited. To set up a direct connection, the app exchanges small connection-setup messages through your own private iCloud, and may use a public STUN server to discover your network address (this reveals only a network address, never any video). On the same Wi‑Fi network, the connection stays entirely on your local network.

Optional relay server (TURN). Some mobile and corporate networks block direct connections between devices. For those cases you can enter, in Settings, the address and credentials of a TURN relay server that you run or rent. SentryBlack provides no relay server and this setting is empty and off unless you fill it in. When a relay is in use, your video travels through that server as end-to-end encrypted data (DTLS-SRTP) which the relay operator has no key to decrypt; the operator can, however, see your two devices' IP addresses and how much data is transferred, and their own privacy policy applies to that. The relay address and username are stored on that device; the relay password is stored only in that device's Keychain and is never uploaded to iCloud, to us, or to anyone else. While a live view is running, the LIVE badge shows RELAY whenever the session is actually being relayed.

6. Advertising (free tier only, iPhone/iPad)

The free tier shows a small banner (via Google AdMob) on non-camera screens only — never over the live view, a recording, or the dimmed camera view. Subscribing to SentryBlack Pro removes all ads and the ad SDK is not started. Ads are not shown in the macOS app.

7. Purchases

The SentryBlack Pro subscription (monthly and annual) is processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details. Receipts are validated on-device using Apple's StoreKit. Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled any time in your Apple Account settings.

8. Children

SentryBlack is not directed at children. The free tier uses Google AdMob with age-appropriate ad settings where required, and the app collects no personal data itself, consistent with COPPA and similar regulations worldwide.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how SentryBlack handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store privacy labels for the affected version.
