GPS Alarm

A location alarm that wakes you when you're arriving — so you can rest on the bus, train, or coach without missing your stop. Version 1.0

What it does

Set the place you want to get off on a map, choose a wake-up zone around it, and start your trip. GPS Alarm keeps watch in the background and sounds a loud alarm — or a gentle notification, your choice — the moment you come within your wake-up zone. Then relax: nap, read, or zone out.

How to use it

Free version & ads

GPS Alarm is free to use: the full arrival alarm — setting a stop, starting a trip, and being woken when you arrive — works for everyone at no cost. The free version saves up to 2 stops and is supported by ads (Google AdMob) shown on the home screen. Ads never appear on the live tracking or wake-up screens, so they never get between you and your stop. See the Privacy Policy for how ads handle data and how to choose non-personalized ads.

Permissions

Location

The app needs your location to know when you reach — or leave — your stop. For the free arrival alarm, While Using works (keep the app open for the most reliable results); we recommend Always so the alarm can wake you even if your phone locks or iOS closes the app during a long trip. Always-on monitoring of your saved places (a Pro feature) requires the "Always" permission and cannot run without it — you only grant it when you turn that feature on in Settings. Your location is used only on your device to trigger your alerts — it is never sent to us or anyone else.

Notifications

Allow notifications so the wake-up alert can appear on your lock screen.

Will the alarm wake me if my phone is on silent?

In Alarm mode, the wake-up sound plays through the media channel, so it is heard even when the Ring/Silent switch is set to silent — just like a clock alarm. Turn your volume up before you nap. For the loudest, most reliable wake-up, use Alarm mode and grant Always location.

Tips for a reliable wake-up

Battery

While a trip is active the app uses GPS continuously, which uses more battery than usual. That's normal for a location alarm and only lasts for your trip — end the trip when you arrive and battery use returns to normal.

Your stops, history & iCloud

Your saved stops and trip history are stored on your device and, when you're signed in to iCloud, kept in sync across all your devices through your own private iCloud — so the same stops and history appear on your iPhone and iPad, and restore on a new device or after reinstalling. We never see this data; it lives only in your Apple Account.

FAQ

The alarm didn't go off.

Check that location is set to Always (Settings → GPS Alarm → Location), notifications are allowed, and your volume is up. In While Using mode, keep the app open during the trip. Make sure the wake-up zone is large enough for GPS to detect — very small zones (under ~150 m) can be missed at speed.

Can I snooze?

Yes. When the alarm fires, tap Snooze to silence it and be reminded again after a few minutes (you can set the snooze length in Settings).

Does it work on the subway / underground?

It works wherever your phone can get a location fix. In long tunnels GPS may be unavailable until the train surfaces or reaches a station with signal, so leave a larger wake-up zone for underground routes.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes — GPS Alarm works on iPhone and iPad.
