Help & support
Set up your dashcam, connect a monitor and understand what each camera is showing.
Choose the instructions for your app
These instructions apply to Dashward 1.4.1, available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Check that both the dashcam and monitor use the current version. Earlier versions use different controls; contact support if you need help updating.
Dashcam or Monitor?
An iPhone or iPad in Dashcam mode records and can share its cameras. Keep it mounted securely, powered and online, with Dashward open on its screen while using its cameras. Set up sharing while safely parked.
A Monitor watches a shared vehicle. iPhone and iPad can use Monitor mode; the Mac app is a viewer and does not record a camera. Settings separates Dashcam and Monitor controls. Camera access for scanning a connection code does not start recording or sharing.
Connect devices with a code
Add a monitor
- On the new monitor, open Connections → Connect this monitor.
- Follow the numbered instructions beside its code. They specify whether the owner should use Apple's Camera or the scanner in Dashward. On a Mac, follow the displayed copy-and-paste instructions.
- Compare the match code, account and device, then review and allow the connection. The new monitor must also accept when prompted. Keep both screens open until setup shows Monitor connected; no second scan is needed.
Codes expire after ten minutes. Scanning alone never grants access. Each person uses their own Apple Account; an invitation does not require sharing an Apple Account password.
Add a dashcam and start sharing
Use Connections → Add a dashcam on the owner's device and the source's sharing controls to connect the dashcam to the plan. Follow the numbered steps on both screens and use the scanner specified there. A dashcam connection is separate from adding a monitor.
The driver must separately choose Review and start on the source and personally review the audience and information being shared. Connecting a device never starts sharing or accepts consent for the driver. Audience or content changes require a fresh driver review.
Stop sharing stops sharing while keeping connections. Disconnect everyone is separate. Removing approval in Connections revokes live access; removing a person in Team/Manage People controls their iCloud access separately. Already received copies cannot be recalled.
Understand the viewing controls
- Watch for 5 min: starts a timed viewing session on that monitor. The visible countdown ends live viewing. Reset to 5 min starts a new five-minute countdown from now.
- Continuous mode: has no countdown. It still needs available sharing, live access and a connection. Leaving the app on iPhone or iPad, or fully hiding the Mac monitor window, stops its live request. Service or access limits can interrupt it; continuous playback is not guaranteed.
- Stop: ends that monitor's live request. It does not stop the dashcam's local recording or another monitor's separate session.
- LIVE VIDEO: marks arriving video. SNAPSHOT is a still image; check its age. Road snapshots can update separately after live viewing stops, so a visible picture is not proof that live video is running.
- STOPPED, CONNECTING, WAITING or UNAVAILABLE: describes that camera's current viewing state. Read the explanation and available action below the picture. Road and Cabin may be in different states.
Personal Pro's time allowance is shared across overlapping Road, Cabin and multiple-monitor viewing of the source. Spending limits can pause video before that allowance is used. Follow the service notice in the app; TestFlight and App Review use a separate finite test pool, and Sandbox purchases do not refill it. There are no automatic extra charges. Basic local recording remains available.
If something is not working
A camera is waiting or unavailable
Check that the source is online with Dashward open, the driver has reviewed and started sharing, and the requested camera is shared. Check the monitor's connection approval and the plan status in Membership. A snapshot or map update can arrive independently of live video. Follow the displayed reason; use Retry when it is offered. Do not recreate connections or buy again solely because a connection is taking time.
A purchase or plan looks out of date
Use our purchase recovery guide for missing access, pending purchases, billing problems and cancellation.
Open Membership to refresh the current plan. Use Restore Purchases for a purchase on your Apple Account, and check expiry or renewal in Apple's subscription settings. The original Personal monthly and yearly plans are closed to new subscriptions and will not renew; existing paid terms end on their Apple expiry date. There is no automatic switch to another plan.
Recording stops or storage is full
Camera recording needs the iPhone or iPad app open. Check available storage and temperature. Locked clips are not automatically deleted, so they can fill the storage allowance. Export important recordings, then remove unneeded clips. Do not test incident detection by creating an impact.
If Dashward closes unexpectedly
Please keep the app installed while we investigate: deleting it can remove local recordings. Reopen it once and note the last action before it closes. If it repeatedly closes, stop retrying and contact us.
- Send the device model, iOS/iPadOS or macOS version, and Dashward version if visible. On iPhone or iPad, find the model and OS in Settings → General → About.
- Tell us whether this happened on launch, in Dashcam or Monitor, during setup, or after another action. Include the approximate time and any error text. Say whether the app closed, froze or showed black cameras.
- If available on iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data. Find the recent report beginning Dashward that matches the time, then use Share to email that specific report to support. On Mac, the matching report may be listed in Console → Crash Reports.
A crash report is optional; the device details and steps are still useful. Review it before sharing because diagnostic reports can contain device or account information. Do not send unrelated analytics, passwords, verification codes or recordings.
Contact Dashward support
Email mwsupplylimited@gmail.com with the app version/build, iOS or macOS version, device model, approximate time and the steps that led to the problem. Mention whether you were using Dashcam or Monitor and include the status text you saw.
Do not send passwords, verification codes, active connection codes or private recordings. If you include a screenshot, hide personal details first.
