The iOS and Mac updates are being prepared for coordinated App Review. Public release follows Apple approval and our manual release. Version 1.4 is available to our internal TestFlight testers; it has not been publicly released. The version 1.1 instructions below still apply to the current public app.
Choose a plan for the person monitoring the vehicles. A supported iPhone or iPad can record and share as a dashcam without buying its own viewing subscription. Mac is a monitor. These are the upcoming monthly US App Store prices; your storefront's local price and renewal terms appear before purchase.

A person included in an active Business team can monitor with the owner’s plan after approval; they do not need a separate viewing subscription. Personal Pro counts overlapping Road, Cabin and monitor sessions of the same source once. Business includes four live vehicle tiles per person, shared across that person's devices and windows; Road and Cabin together use one tile. Approved Business dashcams receive local Pro capture while their plan coverage is verified online, without a separate driver subscription.
*All live plans have spending controls and depend on service availability. No fixed hour quota does not mean guaranteed uninterrupted viewing.
All three plans have a live-viewing spending limit. The version 1.4 public service uses Low Data at 55% and pauses live viewing at 70% of conservative estimated net subscription revenue — the estimated amount left after Apple's commission, taxes, refunds and currency reserves. Viewing may pause before an hour allowance is used; continuous viewing is not guaranteed. There are no automatic extra charges. Basic local recording remains available.
New annual plans, larger Business plans and additional-person packs are not part of this launch. Original Personal subscriptions remain closed; there is no automatic move to a new plan.
TestFlight and App Review use a separate test service with its own limits. A connected session's notices show the limits reported by that service. Test availability does not mean version 1.4 has been publicly released.
As of , the original Dashward Pro monthly and yearly subscriptions are no longer available to buy and will not renew. Removing them from sale does not immediately end an already-paid subscription: access continues through your existing paid term, then ends.
Check your expiry date in Apple Account → Subscriptions. You will not be moved to another plan automatically. If you need help with access during your paid term, contact support.
Dashward turns your iPhone into an always-on dash cam: it records the rear and/or front camera — or both the front and rear cameras at the same time, free — loop-records into short segments, automatically manages storage, and stamps every clip with your GPS location. During an existing paid term, Dashward Pro includes up to 4K/60fps, a parking sentry while Dashward stays open on the mounted phone, Emergency SOS, Driving Reports, and a cloud evidence vault for your incident clips.
Dashward records continuously using loop recording: the drive is broken into short, fixed-length segments so clips stay easy to find, save, and share. You set a storage cap, and Dashward deletes the oldest unlocked clips to make room. Locked clips are protected, so storage can still fill up and recording can stop. Export clips you want to keep, then remove unneeded clips from Dashward to free space.
You can lock any clip you want to keep — locked clips (and event clips from the parking sentry) are protected from the automatic deletion and stay until you remove them yourself. You can also save clips to Apple Photos (free), or with Pro back locked clips up to your own private iCloud evidence vault.
When you park and leave the phone mounted, Dashward Pro can switch into parking sentry mode and keep an eye on your car:
Version 1.1 lets existing Pro subscribers see near-live camera snapshots from another of their devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Snapshots and remote commands use your private iCloud database. Keep both devices online and Dashward open on the mounted device.
Updates depend on the devices and iCloud connection. A recent snapshot is not a guarantee of current conditions; Live View and alerts do not replace emergency services.
Dashward is free to download. The free tier records both the front and rear cameras at once, with GPS-stamped clips, a route map, a G-force meter, and saving to Apple Photos — supported by ads.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Your Apple Account's Subscriptions settings show your current expiry and renewal status. The original Personal monthly and yearly plans are no longer sold and will not renew. Use Restore Purchases in the app to check an existing purchase on your Apple Account.
iOS only allows camera recording while the app is open, so Dashward can't record from the background like a built-in dash cam. Instead, Dashward keeps the screen awake so it records for the whole drive while it's mounted. To save power and reduce heat, you can dim the screen independently from the iOS brightness — the camera keeps recording at full quality while the display stays dark. Live View likewise needs Dashward open on the device being watched.
Dashward loop-records into short segments and enforces a storage cap you choose. It deletes the oldest unlocked clips when space is needed. Clips you lock, and event clips saved by the parking sentry, are protected from automatic deletion. If protected clips fill the available space, recording can stop. Export important clips and remove unneeded clips yourself.
Dashward monitors your device's temperature and warns you if it's getting too hot. To cool things down it can automatically lower the recording frame rate or resolution. The best fix is physical: keep the phone in airflow and out of direct sun — a shaded spot near a vent stays much cooler than a phone baking on the dash.
Check that both devices are online and signed in to the same Apple Account for iCloud. The device being watched needs Dashward open and Allow live view of this device enabled. An old snapshot may remain visible when updates stop; check its age before relying on it.
