A dash cam that watches the road — and your car. Version 1.0
Dashward turns your iPhone into an always-on dash cam: it records the rear and/or front camera, loop-records into short segments, automatically manages storage, and stamps every clip with your GPS location. With Dashward Pro it records the front and rear cameras at the same time, and adds a parking sentry that keeps watching your car while you're away.
Dashward records continuously using loop recording: the drive is broken into short, fixed-length segments so clips stay easy to find, save, and share. You set a storage cap, and once it's reached Dashward automatically deletes the oldest clips to make room for new ones, so it can run indefinitely without filling up your phone.
You can lock any clip you want to keep — locked clips (and event clips from the parking sentry) are protected from the automatic deletion and stay until you remove them yourself. You can also optionally save clips to Apple Photos to keep them in your main library or back them up with iCloud Photos.
When you park and leave the phone mounted, Dashward Pro can switch into parking sentry mode and keep an eye on your car:
Dashward is free to download. The free tier is a single-camera dash cam supported by ads.

Subscriptions are sold through Apple and renew automatically until cancelled; manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Prices are always shown in the app in your local currency.
iOS only allows camera recording while the app is open, so Dashward can't record from the background like a built-in dash cam. Instead, Dashward keeps the screen awake so it records for the whole drive while it's mounted. To save power and reduce heat, you can dim the screen independently from the iOS brightness — the camera keeps recording at full quality while the display stays dark.
Dashward loop-records into short segments and enforces a storage cap you choose. When the cap is reached it automatically deletes the oldest clips to make room, so it never fills up your phone. Clips you lock, and event clips saved by the parking sentry, are kept safe from automatic deletion.
Dashward monitors your device's temperature and warns you if it's getting too hot. To cool things down it can automatically lower the frame rate or resolution, or reduce charging. The best fix is physical: keep the phone in airflow and out of direct sun — a shaded spot near a vent stays much cooler than a phone baking on the dash.
