Watch your dash cam from another device
For Dashward 1.4.1 · Updated 3 November 2026
Use an iPhone or iPad as the recording device, then watch its shared Road and Cabin cameras from another iPhone, iPad or Mac. The Mac app is a viewer. Both ends need a suitable connection, and the source must keep Dashward open.
Choose a setup that fits your use
- One person, one vehicle: Personal Pro includes 60 live source hours per subscription month. Personal Live has no fixed monthly hour quota. Spending limits apply to both.
- Two people using separate Apple Accounts: Business 5 includes up to five registered vehicles and two people, including the owner. Invited teammates use the owner's applicable team coverage.
- Just recording locally: start with free recording. You do not need a viewing subscription to make a basic recording.
Each person can use two approved live monitors. See prices, plan coverage and limits before choosing.
Connect, then let the driver review
- Open Connections on the monitor and follow the displayed connection-code steps. Use the scanner specified on screen.
- Compare the match code and account/device details. The owner approves the connection and the monitor accepts it.
- Connect the source dashcam to the plan using its separate setup steps.
- On the source, the driver selects Review and start and checks what is shared and who can see it. An invitation alone does not enable sharing.
Codes expire after ten minutes. If one expires, restart that connection step using a fresh code. Do not share Apple Account passwords. The detailed connection guide explains the controls.
Live video and snapshots are different
Choose Both cameras on the monitor to watch Road and Cabin together. Check the LIVE VIDEO or SNAPSHOT label and the freshness information. Video, snapshots and location update separately; a map marker or still image does not prove live video is arriving.
Understand time and spending limits
Watch for 5 min has a countdown. Continuous mode has no countdown, but does not guarantee uninterrupted viewing. Live viewing switches to Low Data at 55% and pauses at 70% of conservative estimated net subscription revenue. A pause can occur before Personal Pro's hour allowance is used. No automatic extra charges apply. Local recording remains available.
The driver stays in control
Stop sharing pauses uploads while retaining connections. Revoking a monitor's live approval and removing a Team member's iCloud access are separate actions. Received copies cannot be recalled. Review the audience before resuming sharing.
Connection or payment trouble?
Follow the status shown in the app. Restore a purchase or check a plan before buying anything again. Do not delete Dashward as a connection fix: local recordings can be lost.
